Github "Finish-Up-A-Thon" Challenge Winner Announcement Delayed & General Challenge Timeline Updates

Hey all, we have a quick update for everyone who participated in the GitHub "Finish-Up-A-Thon" Challenge, followed by a more general challenge timeline change.

First off — wow. Our recent challenges have really taken off, and the "Finish-Up-A-Thon" was no exception. The quality and volume of submissions have been incredible (we received over 500 submissions!), and we want to make sure our judges have the time to give every entry the thoughtful review it deserves.

As a result, we're pushing the winner announcement back to June 25. Thank you so much for your patience, and for putting so much heart into your builds. We can't wait to share the results!

Second, we know we've been updating the timelines for quite a few challenges. Here's our latest winner announcement timeline for those of you who have participated in the last few:

Finally, we will be increasing the standard judging period for our challenges moving forward. Previously, we strived to select final challenge winners the week after submissions are due, but given our current pace of participation, we are now giving ourselves at least two full weeks so we don't run into these bottlenecks the future.

Thanks again for your participation. This is one of the best problems we could ever dream of having!

In the meantime, consider joining our game challenge — it's been a while since we've gotten to host one of these 😄

Happy coding! 💙

Half of 1K of submissions is insane. The challenges are getting harder to win by each announcement of new challenges.

I don't know...Might be a good idea to bring back community judges now @jess IMO :)

Participating in a challenge is a challenge,
receiving many submissions is a much bigger challenge 🤣🥰

I was not able to finish on time, but it did inspire me to 'finish' a project. A project I went out of my way to get special hardware for, have been working on, and will definitely be posting about it soon. So for that, thank you. I really wanted to participate in this one, but simply had too much going on.

Good luck to all the participants!!! And wow, 500 is alot!

Same happened to me.
I didn't finish up the finish-up-a-thon 😄

But I did revive something good.
Once I'm done with it, it'll be helpful to a lot of people 🫠

More than 500 submission is really insane, so if we estimate 600 entries there is only 1.67% chance of anyone winning. The submission rate is truly impressive(I mean 500 submissions is over the mind)

Even if i won't come in top 10 i hope I would get a completion badge instead(which is still good). My submission link:
